scene by scene synopsis
Scene 1 - Intro
The scene opens with Tina, a homeless woman, waking up in the middle of nowhere on a bench, confused about where she is and how she got there. After a while she becomes hungry and thirsty and starts looking for food in the surrounding area. Meanwhile, Sandra, a well known artist, is flipping through her portfolio trying to find ideas for her new piece to win a prize. (Shown through cross cutting)
Scene 2 – Tina’s Life
Tina can be seen sitting on the floor near the bench begging for money, but to her disappointment she is unsuccessful, so she has no other choice but to go into shops and ask for food. When in the shop, Tina gets dirty looks from the staff and customers of the shop and is rudely forced out and told to never go back.
Scene 3 – Sandra’s Life
Sandra can be seen in her workshop drawing ideas, but keeps on starting again as nothing is working out for her. She then goes searching for ideas around town, and finds Tina sitting on the floor near the bench, with paper and a pencil. She approaches Tina out of sympathy as Tina’s pencil breaks and she vigorously tries to fix it. Sandra feels sorry for her and goes closer, seeing her drawing before giving her a pen she has in her pocket and walking off.
Scene 4 – Prize
Sandra can be seen on a stage accepting a prize. It cuts to show a leaflet pass Tina in the street and she decides to go as the name looks familiar. Tina is not allowed in, but is able to look through the window and recognises Sandra. As the artwork is revelled, the audience can see it is what Tina had previously drawn. It cuts to show Tina’s facial expression, she is horrified.
