Script




EXT. ON A STREET - DAY

Tina is a 25 year old homeless woman. She's wearing a ragged dark colored top, tatted unbranded track suit bottoms and an old pair of shoes. She wrapped up in a sleeping bed. She wakes up from her sleep in an unknown place she cannot describe; she’s lying down on a bench on a busy road.



LS: LOOKING STRAIGHT JUST INFRONT OF THE BENCH



CUT

Sandra is also a 25 year old wealthy artist. She’s wearing a clean cut top with smart jeans and home socks. She’s on her bed drawing and keeps throwing the papers in the bin, she’s trying to find a good



LS:



CUT



POV/LS: LOOKING TOWARDS THE END OF THE ROAD.



Pan: FROM THE END OF THE ROAD TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD.



On the other side of the road, people with bright, bold clothes are walking in one direction, each smiling at the other and polite conversations taking place.



CUT

CU: OF TIM'S TRAINERS AS HE STARTS TO WALK ON HIS WAY.



CUT



OVER THE SHOULDER: OF LISA WALKING TOWARS TIM.



Lisa is a young woman, dressed well with neat blonde hair. She smiles at Tim before stopping to have a conversation with him.



MEDIUM CLOSE UP/OS: LISA'S FACE.



LISA

Hi! Haven't seen you in ages- well since yesterday actually.

Laughs



Tim smiles



Yeah, I'm fine thanks. How's everything going?



Tim nods



Yeah, thought as much. Well, I can see you're late so I won't keep you too long. See you soon, yeah?



Tim nods and smiles, his eyes slightly following her as she walks past him.



CUT



POV: OF THE SUNNY, BARELY CLOUDY SKY.



CUT



Suddenly, Tim notices a sound that seems to be closer to him than the traffic and voices-footsteps.



CUT



MEDIUM: AS TIM LOOKS OVER HIS SHOULDER TO SEE WHAT THE SOUND IS.



CUT



POV:OF THE DISTANCE HE HAS ALREAY WALKED - LISA CANNOT BE SEEN.



CUT



CLOSE UP: TIM'S TRAINERS.



CUT



As Tim speeds up he can hear that the footsteps also speed up.



LONG SHOT: TIME FROM THE FRONT AS HE STARTS RUNNING.

EXTREME CLOSE UP: TIM'S TRAINERS AS HE STARTS TO TRIP



CROSS DISSOLVE



INT. A DARK HOLE WITH ONLY A SLIGHT LIGHT ON TIM AS HE 'FALLS' DOWNWARDS. - DAY

In a dark hole, Tim 'falls' down, arms and legs spread showing the speed at which he is falling.He cannot see the where the hole ends. Tim begins to recall the conversation he had with Lisa, but this time his side of the conversation can be heard. Tim's facial expression doesn't change and hardly blinks.



HIGH ANGLE/LS: TIM FALLING DOWN THE HOLE, SLOW SPIN OF THE CAMERA.



TIM

(In his head)

Who was that lady. Lisa? I've never met a Lisa before.



Lisa's part of the conversation can be heard, almost as a whisper.



I know! It's good to see you again. You okay?



Lisa's whispered conversation again.



FADE



EXTREME CLOSE UP: OF TIM'S EYE, WITH A SLIGHT GLEAM.



It's going well actually. just started the second year at college and it seems to be going smoothly.



FADE



CLOSE UP: OF TIM'S FACE.



Lisa's conversation



Okay. Bye.



What? I don't know her do I? Do I?



CROSS DISSOLVE



EXT. ON THE SAME STREET AS BEFORE - DAY



Tim 'lands' on the same street he was on earlier on his hands and knees, only this time it seems to be darker due to different weather. Tim, however, is still wearing his bright clothes.



HIGH ANGLE/MEDIUM SHOT: TIM ON HIS HANDS AND KNEES.



CUT



POV/MCU/TILT: OF PEOPLE'S HSOES IN FRONT OF HIM, SLOWLY SHOWING THEIR FACES. THE CAMERA RISES AS TIM GETS UP.



The same people that Tim saw before are back, but this time on his side of the road. Their clothes appear to be dirty and faded compared to what they were wearing earlier. No one is talking to each other this time, but the sound of distant traffic can still be heard. Everyone's faces look more aggressive.



CUT



MEDIUM CLOSE UP: OF TIM LOOKING FRIGHTENED AS HE LOOS DOWN THE STREET.

POV/ECU: TIM'S WRIST WITHOUT A WATCH

Tim becomes scared and thrown off by this sudden anger that he's not used to.

POV/MCU: OF TIM BUMPING INTO A YOUNG BOY.

MS: OF TIM AS HE TURNS AROUND.

Tim becomes more aware that his journey should be finishing and soon he would be able to escape these people. He looks aggitated and his movements are jumpy.



POV/LS: OF THE ROAD, SHOWING NO SIGN OF ENDING.



CAMERA TRACKS FORWARD SLIGHTLY BEFORE TILTING UP AND SPINNING.

scene by scene synopsis

Scene 1 - Intro


The scene opens with Tina, a homeless woman, waking up in the middle of nowhere on a bench, confused about where she is and how she got there. After a while she becomes hungry and thirsty and starts looking for food in the surrounding area. Meanwhile, Sandra, a well known artist, is flipping through her portfolio trying to find ideas for her new piece to win a prize. (Shown through cross cutting)



Scene 2 – Tina’s Life

Tina can be seen sitting on the floor near the bench begging for money, but to her disappointment she is unsuccessful, so she has no other choice but to go into shops and ask for food. When in the shop, Tina gets dirty looks from the staff and customers of the shop and is rudely forced out and told to never go back.



Scene 3 – Sandra’s Life

Sandra can be seen in her workshop drawing ideas, but keeps on starting again as nothing is working out for her. She then goes searching for ideas around town, and finds Tina sitting on the floor near the bench, with paper and a pencil. She approaches Tina out of sympathy as Tina’s pencil breaks and she vigorously tries to fix it. Sandra feels sorry for her and goes closer, seeing her drawing before giving her a pen she has in her pocket and walking off.



Scene 4 – Prize

Sandra can be seen on a stage accepting a prize. It cuts to show a leaflet pass Tina in the street and she decides to go as the name looks familiar. Tina is not allowed in, but is able to look through the window and recognises Sandra. As the artwork is revelled, the audience can see it is what Tina had previously drawn. It cuts to show Tina’s facial expression, she is horrified.

The new film will be about a homeless person who is good at art and a famous artist who is struggling to get an idea. When the two meet they form a slight friendship, but the famous artist steals the other’s idea, taking all the credit and leaving the homeless person out.

• Exterior – Outside by the 157/75 bus stop with the bench, the bridge at the end of the road that the train goes over, a shop on the high street.

• Interior – Inside the hall where outside can be seen and the part of the corridor in the Stanley building that is closed off.
